this is what i assumed too since shiki mentioned that he at least wanted to say thank you to panther-chan, that was some sort of deliverance for him, i guess. but that still doesn't answer the question of why mio (the panther) repeatedly protected him, only to kill him on the spot? it's safe to assume that mio has actually some importance, or connection to shiki, likewise if mio is actually the panther it's probably the same for shiki as well since 1. kid nanaya shiki mentioned something about a cat 2. shiki character profile has 大型の猫 in what he likes. maybe i'm just coping hard but it seems that they have some connection from childhood but then again mio is only 14 meaning that she was 1 (?) after the nanaya massacre, how is she able to remember anything about shiki?
