I never really thought the slowdown of the birth rate (which is good for everyone) would be a real effect on the entertainment industry. Especially cartoons, which seems to attract as many manchildren as children.

I will say it's true that today's ADHD generation cares more about games than stories, written or otherwise. I mean I do too. I just like jumping in and doing something, I haven't watched TV in forever because I find it less interesting than acting out the story myself.

Which is one thing I didn't agree with in the article, games can be a great medium for telling a story. The real problem being that most game designers aren't writers and most writers aren't game designers. Which is a damn shame, because a great story (which includes weaving it into the gameplay correctly) will pull you into a game like nothing else. And I don't mean VNs.
