Yeah, a sample is a sample, especially when taken from a mainstream band like Limp Bizkit who were signed to a sub of Universal, one of the largest corporate entities in music

There was a famous case of a mash-up artist who would compose entirely new songs out of nothing but like 5-45 second samples from pop & rock and rap songs, and for the 2 or 3 albums he had out at the time it was estimated that he could be sued for 45 million $. He then had to stop selling music and instead go with "pay what you want".
