Quad turrets had their time in limelight before 2nd London Naval Treaty collapsed, North Carolinas were originally supposed to be armed with 3 of them (carrying 14"/50 Mark B) but yanks decided to upgrade to 3 x 3 carrying 16"/45 Mark 6s after it became clear that said treaty would go nowhere.
