>an hour later he comes crying to me saying "this is impossible, every phrase there's kanji I don't know and I can't understand the sentences perfectly"
>try explaining to him "that's just how it is, in the beginning you're gonna struggle but that's just because you've never read before, after a few dozen hours you're gonna start getting better"
>he ignores me and goes back to ankidroning

bros... I'm so glad I listened to your advice and didn't get stuck in Anki hell....
the Axanael pill is the way to go...
I feel so bad for my friend though, he's probably gonna give up at this rate...
if he quits japanese because of something like this I'm going to be mad, i spend hours downloading games and configuring text extracting + automining tools for him
