The difference in quality is pretty significant between a few hundred bucks when you are under $2k. If your budget is lower than $800 then go with the cheapy and hanidoll has been building a good rep for low price quality.

If your budget is near $1,000 consider the older line of Dollhouse 168 (DH168) or Dollforever (D4E). HG Doll has a bunch of older models that were sculpted by Mizuwali and were considered the best of their years (2k17-2k19). I see some on there for $900 which is nuts. Check out Kuma-Doll as well. They have a lot of brand new models from FU Doll, Real Girl, Cosdoll, and others at or around $1k. These are going to be very high quality as well with all new sculpts and options. The low cost dolls won't come close to any of these.
