I actually prefered how in the original there were no "adults" around the house.
It's set it home better how the Tohno household is a bunch of traumatised, broken children, who are now trying to cope after Makihisa's bit the dust and isn't around to terrorize anyone.
Considering how much Akiha used to loath her father in the original, anyone of his accomplices sticking around in the Remake feels weird.
