The GBA ones (6,7 and 8) are the ones I enjoy the most by far, mostly because of combat. The sprites and animations are just so much more satisfying to watch and play with than the older stuff which visually looks like shit and the newer stuff which looks bland and uninspired.

FE4 likely has the most interesting story, as >>12735528 said.

FE5 is considered to be the hardest challenge.
