You guys speak as if this is the first time in lore where a monster/youkai is benign to humans. Do you not know of Meridiana, the succubus who placed a pope? Legend has it that she was the one behind the events that led to him being chosen as the next pope. But since Silvester II was a good man who furthered knowledge and fought against corruption in the church, people naturally assumed that Meridiana was a good girl after all.
