Only the destroyers are actually underage. Everyone else is in that "somewhere between sixteen and forty" age that characterizes all drawn Japanese women.

>It would take some very fine writing to make it work as a serious drama, and Japan isn't capable of it.
Well, yeah, it would be really hard to make it any good. I think it's possible. I wouldn't trust them to do it. A huge part of LoGH is politics and intrigue, but children have fought and died around the world before.

I don't think they actually WILL do it, but I think it would be nice to have a two-episode AU where everybody dies.

You really need to read the story of the four sisters. I have Furutaka in my fleet most of the time, and she's worried about Kako all day every day. I keep a Kako in my storage only because of Furutaka. I would've fed her to my other ships back when I finished the quests if she wasn't so important to Furutaka.

Holy fuck, the story of these four sister is pretty sad, especially for Aoba: The four of them (Furutaka, Kako, Aoba and Kinugasa) were pretty much deployed together all the time.

Kako was sank by a submarine on their way home after Battle of Savo Island since their escort were reassigned to support the island.

Due to their admiral's poor judgement, the division was caught in a T cross and flagship Aoba was heavily bombarded. Aoba uses a smokescreen to pretend she was sinking and escapes. Furutaka quickly became the next target, taking heavy shellfire. One of her torpedo tubes exploded and caused a huge fire, which lit her up and attracted even more attention. A torpedo hit Furutaka in the engine room, pretty much sealing her fate. She continue to take shells, then eventually lose power and sank.

Aoba, despite heavily damaged, reunited with Kinugasa and retreated. Aoba was send back home for repair, while Kinugasa became new flagship and continue onto the Battle of Guadalcanal where she was bombarded to death by aircrafts.

Aoba, after returning home, was slightly repaired before being damaged and forced to evacuate due to enemy aircrafts. At Kure shipyard, she was deemed irreparable and re-rated as a reserve. The shipyard was later bombed and Aoba settle to the shallow bottom. Immobilized, she became a "floating AA battery", and was eventually bombed again until inoperable.
