Because, being Youkai, their existence is bound to a concept.
It's in their nature.
They are NOT Kami, who are the living embodiment of a concept.

I've always wondered; how do Shikieiki and Komachi regard Kaguya and Mokou?
Do they see them as abominations of life? Do they just completely disregard them as living and consider them a universal constant, as that's what they've become?

I thought she was slightly shorter.

I prefer to think as such anyway; not because I want Shiki to be small, but I envision Komachi as basically being the tallest Touhou with the exclusion of Utsuho's wings.
