>The thing you have to remember is that the standards for VN adaptations in the early 2000s fucking sucked.
Hence, the "especially given when it was made". The voice acting and soundtrack largely carry the adaptation, especially in the important character moments. Of course, it definitely isn't going to win any awards for animation quality, but it can look pretty when it wants to, and it's full of mid-2000s charm. There's really no excusing the CGI dragon though...
