Any non-unique gear under {Godly} quality can be changed with change material scrolls to dragonscale or adamantium for excellent DV/PV (use material kit for godly and living), and a craft repair kit can increase the DV/PV even further. Also equip update from the pot of fusion can improve the equipment *type*, retaining the stats such as resists but giving you even better dice.

So for example a robe can be changed step by step to a bulletproof jacket, go from cloth to adamantium with a number of change material scrolls, and finally get the maximal dice possible by using a craft repair kit. Early on material changing is how you make large jumps in power, another reason why invested magic vendors and hoarding scrolls to bless are so important.
