There's no rule that says that the yama can't make further reincarnation deals, anon. It's all above-board if they're involved.
And since they're clearly invested in Akyuu, it would only stand to reason that they're willing to extend the same deal to Akyuu's partner, allowing him to support and love Akyuu across lifetimes, remembering their love every time and rekindling their relationship time and time again.
All they'd expect in return would be for him to "work off" his accumulated sin with the yama, and then he'd be allowed to be reborn, just like Akyuu.

It's all highly virtuous, and any man willing to love Akyuu like that is truly noble in spirit, unlike youkai who are old as balls, which is inherently sinful, and race-mixing is obviously the worst sin imaginable. Humans are meant to be with humans.
