In that case what would you call epic and good in Japanese? I tried playing a few like Little Busters with my limited Japanese when it first came out, but the story wasn't good enough to motivate me to learn more Japanese. (Later when it was translated it just re-affirmed that wasting more time trying to figure it out wouldn't have been worth my time.)

These days I prefer "cool" and fast stories with action over the typical visual novel premise: a slice of life story set in a school bathed and bathed in excessive sentimentality, with corny childhood promise lines, slow plot development, a sudden melodramatic twist, and a cookie-cutter harem to choose from.
