Oh, story-wise they're doing fine (and both have proven to be popular characters, Rainbow Rose in particular is dangerously cute). It's just that Adenium was long foreshadowed as a very famous, popular and experienced knight, more or less the Lotus Lake equivalent of Ume and Sakura, so everyone expected her to be a rainbow... only for her to end up as an event character (her promoted version lives up to her name, though).

Same with Rainbow Rose (rather than being famous, she was shown in a NND stream to have actual rainbow hair), but given Adenium's situation, there were half-joking suggestions about how she'd be the event gold, which turned out to be true (on the plus side, her rarity grown version has the highest single-turn damage potential in the game bar none). If Tritonia, a similarly high-profile character (Lotus Lake's equivalent to Acacia, this time), is released now, there's a chance that she'd "only" be a gold rather than the expected rainbow.

I think it was grouped under that header a long time ago, but the Pygmy Waterlily/Lotus map had a different banner because it was on discount and the remaining Aqua Shadows weren't?

Something similar happens with ultimate maps whenever they release a new one.
