it was a mature hairline, not a receding hairline/balding. mature hairline happens to nearly every white guy in their late teens and early 20s. i have it too and i'm far from balding. grandpa from mom's side has thick hair at 70.
best way to check it is: strain forehead to reveal your wrinkles and measure the distance from the top wrinkle to hair. if it's less than 1.5 inches/3.8cm, you're most likely not balding. mine is 3cm.
