Does anyone remember how sage works?

A sage allows you to reply, but not bump a thread. The best usage for this is when a thread is close to the back and you want to make a pussified reply to someone that will most likely never read it, because they don't care about the thread as much as you do.

However, alot of newfags have been using sage in a fit of disgust, as an attempt to bring a thread CLOSER to the back page, from what I gather.

Shame a single non-sage reply can bring it back forward, isn't it?
