Lambdadelta and Bernkastel are Voyager witches, they're essentially interdimensional aliens who can warp reality at will and consume entire universes. Battler and Ange were able to fight Bernkastel because they became a sorcerer and a witch respectively; they HAD to use magic to fight her, because disbelief in them doesn't make them go away like it does with Beato's illusions; Battler tried that already and it failed spectacularly, it's what got him beaten and impaled on that sword before he discovered the power of the golden truth.
