Ok, seriously, fuck this game.
Up to this point it was pretty enjoyable as long as I managed to overcome the slight feeling of disgust Rance and his exploits(or rather, the way they were presented) aroused in me, but that's just fucking too much.
Rance betraying Ran's trust and raping her was bad already, so I quickly went to save her workaholic boyfriend to make up for it. And what happens? She dies in a horrible way in front of her beloved seconds after being reunited with him.
Fuck.
That.
Shit.

... so, is there a way to save her on the first playtrough?

Yes, yes, I know, I'm slow. I've been preoccupied with other things back when Sengoku Rance first got translated, so excuse my tardiness

I don't often come here but I figured that /a/ doesn't care for eroge/VN threads. I just spent almost a week obsessively playing the translated version of Sengoku Rance, and I thought that this game was EXCELLENT. I have a light course load this term, so I'm able to do what I do, but seriously, I haven't found any other game that has kept me playing almost 24 hours straight (well, actually, my first few hours was spent reading all of the troop stats, strategies, and commanders, when and where to get them, etc.). Here's what happened (SPOILERS BELOW):

- Started playing, didn't have a clue what to do but figured it out pretty quickly.
- Went through part of true route. Was quite happy when I got Uesugi Kenshin and realized that the only place I had heard of her before was from a doujin (but you can't forget the trademark hat she wears).
- After the demons came and started taking over houses like mad, I called bullshit and quit, never wanting to play a demon army route again.
- Restarted with a save that had all the unlocks, and enough points to pick all of the options and did the sandbox "kill the monkey" route.
- Got pretty far, but didn't finish entirely (had 3/4 of the map). Felt like there wasn't enough story since it's just a house-conquering sandbox.
- Restarted and went for Nanjo Ran route on 5 star difficulty, got rocked pretty hard once I hit the youkai, and they had over 9000 troops in a single stack, while all my stacks combined didn't even have half as many.
- Restarted except on 2-star difficulty.
- Finished Nanjo Ran route.

Thoughts on the game to follow...

So, I played through once and just took it easy, wasn't strong enough to do the Honnou encounter, demon badger wiped me out.

Soooo I started over and tried to follow this guide

but found it impossible to beat tokugawa until turn 21... have I completely fucked it up, or should I just relax and get through 1st game sticking as much to the guide as possible..?

>Some time after rescueing Hojo Soun, you will get an event where Suzume and Chaos discovers that Xavier is hiding in the temple, and after that you will get a choice to release Manmaru or keep her. If you release her and go to the temple, you will wound Xavier(While Kentarou kills Rengoku) then Xavier and the triplets walks in and seals him. If you keep Manmaru, the spell will fail, and its game over as everyone dies. Also if you do not start the Ran route before destroying the Tenshi sect the event for relasing Manmaru does not happen before the fight with Xavier and is Game Over. An option is to keep alive the Tenshi sect until Xavier is sealed, then vasal or conquer them.

I already conquered Tenshi, is there any way to continue Ran route with Tenshi conquered? I don't see how I could keep Tenshi alive long enough to start Ran route, mainly because of all the fans wasted on stopping riots. Am I missing something here?

I'm trying to get onto the Ran route but no matter how many times i've defeated her in combat i can never capture her, and when i defeat the Hojo house she explodes.

Do i just keep at it, fighting her till she gets captured or am i supposed to do something else?

Goddamnit why didn't you guys vote on the Ran path. Ran is love. The game explodes a Ran every time you don't follow her route.
