The reason hell tries to kill either is indeed because they have lived too long. That said, there's an additional "reason" to Celestials in that in order to be allowed to live longer they must fight for it. There's nothing suggesting it has to do with virtue, it's only about living too long. In fact, Komachi talks about how their lifespans are being unnaturally extended, which is why they need to die.

This also explains why they don't go after Lunarians. Lunarians can die natural deaths, it just takes a completely absurd amount of time.
