Go for it anyway if you find it fun and don't mind fiddling with it. When it comes to fanworks, the author's apparent appreciation for the source material can add a lot to the work's charm. Your collage sounds like it would have that charm to it. I'm sure anons ITT can make suggestions if you have something specific you're stuck on.
