Well, there's your problem.
Got two acquaintances with 40Ds, one with an XSi and another with a Kiss X2, and it's all in the lenses really...

Then again, I'm only good a shooting macro shots. And they looked glorious with the 40D and the zoom lens he had recently gotten.

As for the wig, try using a wig cap. I can't get mine to stay on my head when I run around. I say this since my hair is around the same length as yours.
