Yes they can, through a remotely exploitable vulnerability in your operating system or some program you are running like a web browser. Botnets want your PC and Internet connection, they don't give a damn who you are as long as they can spread to you. Phishing doesn't care who you are, if you have an E-mail address you're a potential victim. Common sense will only do so much.
