That's exactly what he means.

Well, you are in a board where people beat the Extra about two days after each game is released, so there is plenty of time to fanwank as well. These threads are for us commoners.

Also, enjoy your stay and please visit more often.

I wonder why everyone starts with PCB and not EoSD.

Sorry OP, I had to change computers twice since I got into Touhou, my greatest achievements have been lost in the sands of time. I have captured Scarlet Meister on Hard, though.

First of all, play without the hitbox patch. Adding to what >>7349581 said, the whole difficulty is not having a hitbox, the bullets in EoSD are not as cluttered together as in the other games.

That said, about the frustration-makes-me-lose issue,
yeah, everyone has had it before. But you know why it happens? It's because of your own raised expectations. The first time you play after a long time, you anticipate the difficulty ahead, you KNOW you'll die in some parts and prepare your mind accordingly, you're looking at a biger part of the screen, you bombs in time, etc.
Now,that's all good, but what happens the second time you play?
"Yeah, I dodged this before, I should have no problem, besides, let's not waste any bombs on th-"

When you lose attention on a moderately difficult part, you raise your own chances of dying. Yeah, I know, but you did this before. Well, you wouldn't have done this before if you had thought you could breeze through it. Don't let hindsight bias overtake you, you genuinely thought it would be challenging the first time, that's why you tried and that's why you got past it in the first place. But what do you do now?
It's simple, anticipate it again. Drop your ego and decide you're going to bomb, even if you had chances of survival. What's that? You'll die later anyway? That's nice, at least you won't die now.

Also, you have to enter that condition you were in when you played the later stages. That state of mind like you're on sugar high or speed, when you move too fast and everything else seems to move too slow. Constantly expect something hard to appear and try to keep that thought for the rest of the game. It's hard not relaxing for a moment in the middle of the stage, but that's the name of the game.

Also, playing on lunatic for a bit with continues helps a lot.

OP, don't take our word for it, just watch what are accepted by most players to be two of the hardest Spellcards in the game:

Don't expect anything like this too soon in the game, but you get the idea.
