I'm kind of a hypocrite because if you remove the whole eating people shit from her, the Mantis mother/Oneesan/Divinity is probably my absolute favorite insect girl design from him. That or I just have a weakness for women who look like they have their eyes closed because it makes it impossible to tell what they're thinking. Keep in mind that a lot of Regura's storytelling when it comes to the supernatural is based on implication. The bandits were caught in the same position as the praying mantis against the oxen cart wheel. Underestimating their opponent, as it were. One could say, based on speculation and reading between the lines that Michira (The Mantis who fucked them into submission and ate them) was less a biological older sister and more of a caretaker to Usuba.

Personal headcanon says that she's the Mantis God, or some incarnation of it. Especially given that she mentions detesting her own existence (Humans offered a sacrifice to said God then forgot about them) or the fact it's not out of the ordinary for humans to be bigoted towards the demi-human races. Like I said, it's all based on speculation and a lot of it is implication. For all that's known w/o the word of God she only ate him because the myth that Praying Mantis females always eat the head of the male.
