okay, here is an example.

before is left, after is right. the colors are different, but i think the difference in resolution is clear enough that it doesn't matter.

i don't know whether it still looks like shit or not or whether it's an improvement in other ways, but hopefully you can at least see that the resolution is much better.

the resolution was 72 before and 288 after, to be clear. maybe i've made some gross error/misunderstanding here or made it bigger i could use, but that is why i was asking for help. if it weren't for self-doubt i would simply say it works.
