It's great marketing that they added the 18th gen as contestants to the Out Of 48 show, though I'm not sure if it's only preliminaries or they've already passed it. Japanese like tournament style shows, whether it be anime shows or survival shows. I remember there was an interview with random Japanese people, and there was this one old guy who said he didn't follow AKB48 before, but after Produce 48, he started following AKB48. The only problem with the show is the time-slot. Not an optimal amount of viewers are able to tune in around that time. But there's a work around for this, they could utilize the internet to distribute bits and pieces to the audience, enough to get them interested and invested in buying tickets for the voting.

So I would suggest they start hyping up the program now, mainly to acquaint the Japanese people about the Youtube channel where they could post snippets and digests of the show episodes.

Guaranteed people will be interested in this show, the problem is the accessibility with the episodes.

Also, JEEBUS DAIST DON'T TELL ME JAPANESE IDIOTS OLD FARTS IN SUITS WOULDN'T LET THEM UPLOAD SNIPPETS OF THE SHOW ON THE INTERNET
