Anat was the Canaanite goddess of war and was known to be a virgin goddess, sometimes even being called the sister-in-law of the peoples. It is notable that while she is the sister to Ba'al, it can only be theorized whether or not she was his lover and consort as well. Anat shares a similar role in the northern Canaanite story of Aqhat to that of Inanna/Ishtar in the Epic of Gilgamesh. Much like how Ishtar gets pissed off at Gilgamesh and Enkidu for spurning her and sends a heavenly beast to fuck their shit up, Anat does the same to Aqhat. It is worth noting that in Akkadian, she would be called Antu, who is the consort of Anu, the mother of Ishtar and shares the same name with the Semitic goddess Anat in the northwest. However, due to the similarities and parallels Anat and Inanna share, continuing on in Canaanite tradition as Anath and Astarte, the two were linked in Ugaritic scripture and formed a triad, or a tripartite goddess with a third goddess whose title was Qadesh, the Holy One.

So possibly, due to the distillation and cultural changes from Uruk all the way to Arinna in Anatolia, the tripartite goddess Hecate could possibly be a corruption of sorts of this triad of ancient, bronze age goddesses into one singular figure.
