On to the "depressed" poses. Rika, Satoko, and Keiichi weren't in the fetal position because they were depressed, but rather they were quite literally in the fetal position. Keiichi banged Mion at the ladder and left for Tokyo. The Keiichi we see after that moment is Keitarou. He was symbolically invited to the Sonozaki home as Mion's son, since Shion and Rika were away at the moment. If I had to guess, Shion was supposed to be his true mother, but Mion scissored her and sent her back to Okinomiya. Likewise Rika was unable to carry Keitarou, so he lay in the fetal position in the Maebara Manor until someone called him. Mion tossing Shion into the well represented her accessing Shion's memories and discovering Keitarou. Since Keitarou wasn't introduced until after Sotsu, he appeared in the same form as his father. Likewise the parent-child swap happened with others too. The story taking place during two weeks in 1983 is an illusion.
