Cirno 13

--
Standing next to the exhausted Cirno on the surface of the frozen Moriya temple’s lake, its grand pillars turned into earth rings that now littered the ice. “So the first thing you have to know is that they’re all insane, it sounds nice to have a bunch of young handsome men waiting on you hand and foot day and night, but then one of them slices himself open to prove his devotion to you.” Suwako was of course speaking from personal experience here, although she had ended up marrying him so there was a bit of hypocrisy in her statement.

Cirno stared up into the sky, too tired to formulate a response as she caught her breath.

Continuing her rant, Suwako said, “The second thing you should know is to not become a curse or harvest god, there’s already so many of us that you’d barely get any faith, and curse gods get a bad wrap, there’s a reason I had to subjugate the Mishaguji.” For good reason, there wasn’t any real way to be a strong curse god and also not be at least a little bit evil, although the same crimes Suwako would fault the Mishaguji for she was also guilty of.

Cirno nodded wordlessly as feeling began to return to her limbs, her wings embedded in the ice beginning to try to free themselves.

“Third thing, don’t go randomly raising people to godhood, having servants is nice, and making sure your children and their kids are safe is good and all, but you shouldn’t go out handing spare curse gods or divine powers for birthdays.” Suwako also needed to learn that the hard way, of course, she half blamed her husband and children for being so fecund. “I can’t believe what Kanako is thinking to do, that young lady.” Suwako shook her head disapprovingly, Cirno didn’t really understand what she was talking about there, but she felt like she agreed.

Breaking herself from the Ice Cirno levitated back upright, stretching as she felt strength return to her.

“Fourth thing, start a business, all big religions in the outside world work on the basis of exchanging goods for a service, we do the same thing here, Ju-” Of course, the Moriya also extorted, threatened, smuggled, and schemed, but those were things SUwako was wise enough to not encourage in CIrno.

Gears began turning in Cirno’s head as Suwako continued on increasingly personal and gossipy tips. ‘She had tried to sell shaved ice before, but apparently, people didn’t like her water-flavored shaved ice. Maybe she could get the Moriyas to help her? Wasn’t there also a lemon fairy somewhere, although it was winter so she should probably work more on that, saving her spray-on-tan ability for when she needed it.’ However, there was also something that had been bugging Cirno.

“Hey Suwako? What about Yukari? I know she’s hurting Anon, and Reimu never liked her, but why do all this?” Cirno had been wondering about it for some time, Okina’s recruitment made sense to her, and so did her preparation to fight Yukari, but Yukari herself was a complete enigma to Cirno

Suwako sighed. “Honestly, I don’t understand either Yukari or Okina, and I trust them to do what's best in their own interests, but I have no idea what that is. Just be careful, those two are schemers and creeps.” Cirno nodded, Okina seemed nice, but there were also times she saw her and Narzin doing something… weird.

“If I had to say something Yukari’s just mad, humans are just like that. That’s half the reason gods and youkai exist, to oppose and be defeated by humans, but like us, their pride is their downfall. So if you want to take some lessons from this incident, never rest on your laurels, don’t become an enemy of humanity or Gensokyo for that matter, and be careful.” Suwako was talking more about herself and Kanako there than Yukari, but it still mostly applied and these were lessons everybody needed to learn.

“Thanks Suwako.” Nodded Cirno, it didn’t entirely make sense to her, but she was sure she’d understand in time “I’ll see you later, oh bye the way, remember to hit Kanako.” Cirno flew behind a rock and entered a back door to the temple. Shou wanted her to be able to count on her as a senpai, right? Surely she’d be help in figuring out Yukari and Okina.

“Bye Cirno!” She heard Suwako call as the sound of footsteps came closer to the temple shrine and lake.

I think I provided enough hints, but people already guessed what Kanako is planning to do with Anon and why Suwako disapproves. I’ll probably wait on Yama!anon’s Byakuren chapters to start writing the next part, but be sure to remember the temple should’ve probably begun the construction Cino observed earlier around the time we should be seeing Byakuren.
I think the ending feels kind of rushed, but I don't know what else to do here and want Cirno to go back and talk to her other Senpai now that her health problems are solved.
