The biggest reason /jp/ was made was because of Touhou and VNs, 3dpd shit used to be deleted on sight by Meido and they were treated as refugees who were only allowed one thread at a time, same with anything else actually relating to irl Japan like the language whereupon people would be redirected to /lang/. Then the Tohoku earthquake happened and a horde of people appeared, and /jp/ was never the same, with Meido gone and 3dpd more accepted than ever.
