Sukus are pretty cute and inoffensive, I cant really envision someone getting upset at a Suku.
Yukkuris are pretty iconic and carry a legacy. I dont mind the abuse side of it but it is a shock to most people.
Gyates is the middle road here. I have to admit they are a guilty pleasure of mine because they work so well as reaction images, they are cute and some get really creative and complex, but I can understand people getting tired of them.
I love fumos but they are nearly mistake territory. Their simple and cute design is really pleasing to the eyes and they beckon a lot of clueless people both for good and bad. I also despise that gacha skins are getting turned into fumos but they sell way too well. Still, I love mine but I dont feel as excited for fumos as before
Walfas felt like a fad to me with very little lasting impact. Their design is really unappealing thats for sure

If the cast of each game would be switched around a bit, whoever gets to star in TH06 would dominate popularity polls. For instance, if UM and EoSD casts were swapped, Chimata would be a juggernaut in terms of fans much like Remilia today and Tsukasa would have been a playable character in subsequent games. Meanwhile Remilia and Sakuya, if they were newhus, they would have a rather small but dedicated fanbase with barely any content made for them. This also applies to games 07 to 10.

Also, Touhou lost a bit of charm when ZUN got better at drawing.

I saw one of these on Megumu's desk the other day
