If you what now? I don't seem to remember anything like that happening.

As for that, sometimes wonder if Mokou will move on, or if she'll seek out Keine's "successor" when the current hakutaku stops ticking.

It depends how you view it - whether you view time as a straight line or as a multiverse. But I'm a bit rusty when it comes to quantum physics, so I won't comment on that.
In either case, it's unlikely that there'd be a conflict. Part since whoever "accesses" last likely has no way of telling if history has already been altered by someone else. Part since Remi works with things that will happen, and Keine works with things that did happen (or as hakutaku, things that didn't happen).

One more epilleptic trees theory among many others...

There is only one hakutaku, or rather were-hakutaku, at a time. This particular youkai has existed since prehistoric times, only not in the same form.
When the hakutaku dies, for any reason, the sum of its wisdom and relevant abilities inhabit a new body - either newborn or, as with Keine, one that already exists. As this can be a traumatic change, the new hakutaku is "blessed" with a lifespan many thousand years long to allow time to come to terms with their new existance. Over the years the hakutaku has been acknowledged in many forms around the world, such as The Sorcerer (stone age Europe), Bai Ze (bronze age China), Cernunnos (Celtic Europe) and lastly the Japanese hakutaku.
The hakutaku as a horned lion only appears near the end of its lifespan, when the human aspect is nearly dead.
The entire purpose in life for a hakutaku is appearing to and guiding a virtuous ruler. Keine may or may not have encountered hers.
