Good number of Ran threads in the past few days. I'm happy.

Remember the old days? Poisoning the emperor and drinking Japan dry?
Good times, good times.

... actually the theory was that artists avoid her because the tails are a pain to draw, which wouldn't outweigh her motherly nature.

No, it's not typical.
But on the other hand, it is typical to expect the unexpected out of kitsune regarding anything that isn't tofu or fried mice.

Come to think of it, the relationships between different sorts of youkai haven't really been explored much.

In general myth outside of Touhou, though, it's variable. Oni are generally honourable, but a good deal of oni are either warbands and raid human settlements, or are local menaces that kill randomly without rhyme or reason.

A possible origin for the myth, the latter case resembles the usual pattern of bear attacks in Japan.

I assure you, there is absolutely nothing between Yuugi and Ran. Nothing.

Though undoubtedly there's bound to be someone wishing there was.

It pains me to say it, but... Yuugi's pretty much fucked.

Yeah, the genes may be right, but that isn't all you need. You need the right conditions for the embryo to develop, not to mention for conception to be possible in the first place. With the sort of metabolism and alcohol saturation oni tend to have, the womb of a female oni is pretty much the same environment as inside a chemiclav. Likewise, the human body isn't capable of storing, or perhaps not even of processing the amount of chemical energy a developing oni needs.
It might still work, but it'd have to be done under very controlled circumstances.
