Just wait a second...I might be a slowpoke since I just finished ep 4 but..
the whole meta-game can be caused by Maria's imagination?

We know that she imagined different witches and had drawn them in her book.
Also, in ep1, which is the start of everything, we know that Maria lives until the end, and at least for a little amount of time after the end.
Could it be that to escape the nightmare of seeing everyone killed she escaped in her imagination?
Battler is in the meta world because he's still alive at the end of ep 1, and the others are all witches, vessels (or I should say re-interpretations of some characters that lived: Genji= Ronove, Virgilia = Kumasawa, Gaap=Shannon or someone else, EVA Beato= eva etc), or, in Ange's case, Maria herself.
And guess what? Ange can be in the Meta world and recognises the same witches? Well that's interesting, since she started to imagine everything READING MARIA's BOOK.
Notice that when Ange started to act, MARIA witch also appeared. Could it be that she, at the time, drew her own witch clothes? Also, even Sakutarou, the Stakes and most of the spells are in the book. The Siesta resembles the bunnies Maria played with, and one of them is dead of unknown causes (the bunny crushed by Rosa).

Now I read some spoilers that assure that magic surely exists.
Can this teory score some point for the mistery side or not?
because well.. as ep 4 says, magic as a way to make everything better etc really exists.
