I have never seen anyone or a photo of someone who is able to fold their body like that, putting the hips alongside the torso. It's impossible precisely because the very shape of the pelvis bone, the points where the hips are connected to it (even in females), and all the meat around the bones prevent it. This image quickly stolen while Google wasn't looking (is it ever, though?) should tell you why in a single look. The best you can do while folding your body in line with the legs is about making a T shape (aka make a split—staying within the range of movement your pelvis allows), but I'm not sure it can be achieved without sufficiently hard support.

What's shown with the redline, on the other hand, is possible if you're flexible enough.
