Bern is probably one of the greatest characters in the series, as you see, outside the game she can be really friendly. Lambda was obvious. AuAu too. That's why I have high hopes for EP7 being the next best episode.

Really, without a Rin-type there is no Shirou. He's too fucking naive to get anything done. At best the only thing he would accomplish by himself is state that he and Beatrice are using a diffirent kind of "Magic" but thats it.
