OP here, I'm not just talking about fanart and waifus, although I don't consider those things to necessarily be disqualifiers of an art piece's value. The stuff you mention like landscape, abstraction, and still-life are all things I see regularly incorporated into even the most fan-servicy of artworks by artists and illustrators, and I say more power to them. The question is: why is it that otakus and weeaboos making tributes to their anime waifus manage to display more technical skill and knowledge of their craft than world-reknowned celebrity artists who crank out the most unoriginal and cheap trash ever to be displayed in town halls and public parks, while otaku works of incredible beauty and imagination languish in obscurity?

Just take this recent work for example. I think anyone could appreciate this scene, not just Touhou fans. Average people gravitate towards paintings and sculpture that they find aesthetically pleasing, but the snobs that control the art world think anything that tries to exemplify the values of artists anytime before the world wars ensure that they never get popular. To me, the whole art world as we know it today is basically one giant money-laundering scheme that was completely abandoned by anyone with talent and integrity ages ago, and it is nerd subcultures, such as the ones that have a large presence on 4chan, that have continued to innovate in style and cultivate true talent.

I'd like to serve the denizens of Hakugyokurou.
Every morning, I'd get up at the same time as Youmu, and while she goes off to wake up Yuyuko, I'd prepare breakfast and and tea and then help the gardener with his duties until noon, which is when I start preparing lunch.
The afternoon I mainly spend with cleaning duties or errands, while also preparing the lady's snacks for the next day.
After dinner (not too opulent, it's not good to eat too heavy before sleep!), unless there's something that requires my attention, I'll have time for myself until the next morning.
