Alright /jp/. I want to politely ask you to guide me in the correct path to learning how to speak/read (enough for VNs and translation in the future) Japanese.

I'm gonna go ahead and apologize ahead of time because I know fuck well that everyone here hates these fucking threads, but of all the internet I respect your word on the subject the most, so please lend me your strength.

I plan on focusing how to read Japanese first, with lessons on speaking not too far behind. I plan on doing this with a couple of my friends, but I'm not too sure how far we're going to get as a group.

I'm heading out tomorrow to buy some books that may help with my goals, if you have any recommendations, I would love to hear them.

Also please state that rosetta stone is shit. My friend is a fucking idiot who swears that rosetta stone is the only way to do anything language wise. I told him before that researching methods and finding our own flow was the best way to do it, but he swears I'm just wasting time not downloading the shit.
