Dumb question:

Why are the Japanese such pedophiles?

It's not just the obvious things like lolicon, there are junior idols and lolita fashion and other media. And it's not as though this stuff isn't sexualized or suggestive, so why does it happen? Are Japan just cool with the idea of portraying children this way, or have any government/religious organizations tried to stop it?

I know /jp/ hates Japan, doesn't know about its society, blah blah blah, but this is otaku culture and the sort of thing you lot *would* know about.
