Being a hipster when choosing your waifu is really important in the otaku world. You see, as you all know all anime/manga/eroge characters are basically the same archetypes being recycled all over again. There isn't much difference between (for example) Rei, Yuki and Tenshi - they're all a part of the same archetype. What really determines the worth of a character in such scenario is how mainstream and well-known it has become. When searching for your waifu, remember - she will be entirely yours when nobody knows about her. That's why the eroge medium (the least popular one) gives you the best opportunity to find a worthwhile waifu. Of course, not many of you will ever get that opportunity, since all translated eroge have become mainstream.
