Personally, I don't believe that there needs to be a profound reason for fiction to exist.
RGD is a post WW2 crime drama which deals with the commoner's troubles at the time, conspiracies and corruption, warheroes and veterans who're suffering from PTSD and the shame of losing a war, revenge and the consequences thereof, and much more.
It's an intriguing tale about a group of patriots trying to be the cure for their corrupt and broken home.
You don't need anything else to enjoy a story.
