Right, the summary and everything makes it sound like something.. not good. It's probably why this game isn't known either. (and has a relatively low score) Those who'd even try this probably expect something completely else. I actually didn't even read a summary myself.. I do that quite a bit actually.

That said, yeah, the setting is a thing, but it's much more tongue-in-cheek than it sounds. (And for example, the love interest/girlfriend of the friend is actually no exception, but doesn't like the MC)
I dunno how much this is a thing in the actual routes of the affected girls though. The route I played was of a girl unrelated to this.. the only one that is. It really seems more like a starting hook.

Low EGS is most likely because it's EGS, really. You know, the site where something like Senren Banka sits at 79.
Like I said, it works a bit different from your typical eroge, and if this'd be actually popular, works like Yuzusoft moege and whatnot would be rather different. (At the very least they wouldn't change the characters so much when you enter a route and probably make the ero a bit less stupidly porno)

But, who knows. It definitely seems to be geared towards a not that big group though.
