GouSotsu was meant to be a story about Teppei's redemption, everything else is just scenario setup for that.

They gave Beautiful Teppei a lot of screentime, starting from Satokowashi and then much of Wata, Tatari and of course the happy ending. It tried to develop Satoko's relationship with him more than anyone except Rika and pushed everyone else into side roles or just ignored them altogether.
