While it's pretty much universally agreed on that Ixrec isn't a good translator, people should stop parroting things they've just heard if they don't know shit about it themselves.

Have you ever even read a machine translation? Ixrec translation, as bad as it is, is still miles ahead of machine translation. I hate how some vocal people in the community nowadays compare every single non-great translation to machine translation. It gives off the signal that machine translation is okay because we're fine with bad translations and machine translations aren't that much worse. Machine translations ARE that much worse. With bad translations at least the general idea of what is written is conveyed; with machine translation, it's at least 50% made up bullshit. Stop saying they're anywhere near equivalent.

Yes, he did improve. He didn't become good, but he most definitely did improve. Read his Inganock translation, then read his Sharnoth translation. Two works from the same writer, and the Sharnoth translation conveys the original text far better than the Inganock translation. Of course Comyu looks like a good counter-argument, but Comyu is difficult in all the ways Ixrec has problems with.

Except for the fact that koestl's Grisaia translation is one of the rare cases where the writing style is properly adapted to English, resulting in a similar feel to the original writing style. You have no idea what you're talking about.

The translation isn't nearly as bad as people claim it to be. Hilariously enough, the discussion continues a bit further on towards Yume Miru Kusuri, a game where the translation doesn't even resemble the original work, with no word on how bad the translation is. Have some issues with the English, everybody complains about how bad the translation is; make shit up (in valid English), and people just assume it's a good translation.
