Look man, I'm even giving you numerous benefits of doubt by disregarding how expensive it'd be to get a mace and shield, how the guy would have to carry both things all the time, even assuming both people have no armor because if they do the cost is gonna be godawful which is why medieval armies started dropping parts before leaving them altogether as firearms developed further, and shields were dropped even earlier. Shit, I'm not even gonna go into detail on whether you're having a fuckhueg dark sould tier tower shield or a pisspoor spaniard buckler.

But you're not doing yourself any favors here. You have a mace. It swings. A longsword has a pommel, it swings, and can do a ton other things like stab, slash, hook with the guard, etc. Entire manuals have been written on the topic of using longswords against armored opponents. You're picking at straws here.
