Despite how silly this game is I still get really immersed in my characters and their stories.

If you really want to solo power to you man, but pets make life so much easier. They grow at a much faster rate than you do, take hits for you, clear out areas for you and shower you with gifts. Items such as ores and herbed food are wasted on yourself, because pets get many times the benefit from them. I've had most of mine from the beginning --- now I'm around Lv 30, but my pets are more than ten levels higher and way tougher than my PC. Watching my party surround, debuff and take down monsters of level 80+ on their own is great.
