I'm seriously considering taking up a teaching position in Japan in 2009. I'm a qualified primary school teacher in England already.

I have a question for anyone who's taught children in Japan before - what kind of approaches to behaviour can I expect to see? I'd heard that Japan was much less wishy-washy and stricter in terms of discipline with children.

Will it be frowned upon if I go over there with my soft-touch British nonsense? Would I be better to just act a whole lot stricter than normal?

Tsukasa unrelated.
