No it isn't. Some VN studios have extra artists to color in things to streamline the process because they shit out 5 moege a year. Others contract multiple different artists to do all the work. Sometimes they do both or neither. In any case, VN artists are themselves abnormal. In literally any other context, having someone else do all your coloring is extremely bizarre.

Takeuchi is also extremely famous, so? You could take the hair off of Takeuchi's older characters and they would still be extremely distinct. The standard of most VNs having lazy artwork is completely irrelevant to an individual failing to live up to their past work.
